FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions For Recruiter Secrets Revealed
What is Recruiter Secrets Revealed?
Recruiter Secrets Revealed is a 108-page electronic book (ebook) that I have written to help career-minded individuals like yourself with your job searches and your career. It contains everything I've learned as a recruiter – all the tips, tricks, techniques and secrets – that recruiters use daily to help people like you get the job and career you want and deserve.
Why should I buy Recruiter Secrets Revealed when I can get information for free on the Internet?
How much is your career worth to you? Sure, there is plenty of free information available but as they say "you often get what you pay for." Plus, a lot of the free information is conflicting. One site says your resume has to 1 page long, the next site says 2 pages or more is ok. Who is right and who is wrong? Who do you believe? I've helped many people find new jobs and can tell you stories about why jobs are won and lost and why some people get hire and why others don't. I've put this information into Recruiter Secrets Revealed.
What do you know about helping me with my career? What have you done that is so special?
In my career, I've worked overseas, have survived numerous corporate downsizings, have been laid off twice myself, have been self-employed, have helped many people find new jobs and have now written Recruiter Secrets Revealed to show you how to take command of your career! I began working as a recruiter in September 2000 during one of the most difficult times for job searchers (and recruiters) in recent memory given that it was post Y2K, the dot-com bubble was bursting, there was a general economic slowdown and on top of that, when September 11 occurred one year later the bottom seemed to fall out of the job search market given the uncertainty that was created as a result. It was not a good time to be a job searcher and I spoke with many good people who got laid off and were out of work for many, many months. I helped many people during this time get back on their feet and get a new job. One of the best feelings in the world is getting a phone call or email from someone who is happily working at a new job that I helped them get and having them thank me for my help. With that in mind, I've put all of my knowledge into Recruiter Secrets Revealed to help you as well.
I've applied for many jobs and have sent out dozens of resumes but I can't even get an interview. Why not?
There is a difference between sending out numerous resumes and effectively searching for a job. Anyone can email dozens of resumes and then wait for the calls to come in but it doesn't work that way. You need to learn how to do several different job search techniques and learn how to do each of them well. I discuss this topic in great detail in Recruiter Secrets Revealed and show you how to get in touch directly with people who can positively influence your job search and career. In other words, I'll help you take control of your career and not simply rely on other people. Before firing off dozens of resumes by email and expecting to get a job quickly, remind yourself that hundreds of other people are probably doing the same thing for the same jobs and are probably achieving the same crummy result.
I get job interviews but can't get the job. What's going wrong?
Job tend to be won and lost during the interview and there are dozens of things you could be doing wrong that are costing you jobs. As a recruiter, I get to sit in the middle and hear everything that the hiring manager says and then I get to hear everything that you, the job searcher says about the same interview. Believe me, the two side of the story are often very, very different. While you might think the interview went well, the hiring manager tells me about all the little things that you did wrong! In Recruiter Secrets Revealed, we'll talk about the "little" things that might be costing you jobs during the interview process that might not be so little afterall.
Is the Reference Check process important? Isn't it just a formality?
Trust me, the reference check process is typically anything but a formality. I've seen jobs lost at the reference check phase and this is really unacceptable. In Recruiter Secrets Revealed, I'll talk about all the things you should be doing with your references including how to choose good references, who you should choose, how you should manage them and what you should tell them before a company calls them to do a reference check on you. Again, you can lose jobs at this stage if you don't take it seriously and I've seen plenty of people that don't.
Should I use a recruiter to help me with my job search?
At the end of the day you'll have to decide this for yourself but I can certainly think of a number of advantages of using a good recruiter to help you with your job search and by extension your career. In Recruiter Secrets Revealed I'll mention not only the advantages of using recruiters, but disadvantages that might occur as well so that you have both sides of the story. Yes, there could be disadvantages and I'll discuss each of them!
